This occurs because the workbook is using a live connection to a data source published to Tableau Server. Tableau Reader cannot open workbooks or.twbx files that use a live connection to data. In order to successfully open a downloaded workbook, extract the data from the data source via Tableau Desktop prior to opening the workbook in Tableau. Users who are not authorized can still open the workbook and then save it by using a different file name. Note: Unlike workbook element protection, which prevents changes to the structure and windows of a workbook, workbook-level password security helps protect the entire file against unwanted changes.
With a live connection you will not be able to download the data with a Tableau workbook. For this you can follow this pocedure: Create an extract connection in your workbook and publish it in the server with an refresh schedule to it (As per you Data updates). Now whenever you download the workbook it will come with the last refreshed data. Tableau Mobile gives you the freedom to stay on top of your data, no matter where you are or when you need it.
